Cherry red is the latest colour trend captivating the interior design world. But what is it about this bold and sultry shade that has everyone buzzing?

According to the Pinterest Predicts report, “we’re going full cherry mode in 2025”. The cherry coded trend will “see Gen Z and Millennials…infus[ing] cherries into their make-up, menus and mood boards this year”, with a surge seen in the following search terms: cherry vibe (+325%), cherry bedroom (+100%), and dark cherry red (+235%).

Evolving from 2024’s unexpected red theory and the rise in popularity of burgundy, we’re seeing a move towards darker, more sophisticated tones this year. These richer reds have an inextricably timeless quality with an air of playful romance, lending themselves beautifully to period properties and contemporary homes alike. 

Here’s how you can style cherry red in your home.

Paint it red

When it comes to colour trends, our first thoughts often go to painting. Cherry red is a perfect shade for bringing sophisticated energy to your dining room or warm comfort to your bedroom. From Little Greene’s Baked Cherry to Farrow and Ball’s Preference Red, there’s a whole host of cherry shades to dive into.

Feeling brave? Why not go all out with colour drenching and paint your space in top-to-toe cherry. This dramatic approach can be balanced with warm neutral accents and soft furnishings.
