A match made in project heaven. Interior Designer and owner, Celia McCarthy of Richardson Studios and Chris Hawkins of Forgeworks Architects have paired up to create a sensational remodelling of this 1960s bungalow.
Celia has taken Forgeworks' expertly imagined spaces and let her creativity flow. Coherent colour and textural choices thread throughout the rooms to build a sense of journey and wonder.
Curation is key; with refined tones and carefully considered use of different materials, Celia's designs strike the perfect balance between contemporary and timeless. No mean feat in what is in essence a new build form.
'As architects, we do interiors, but perhaps more controlled, a little bit more minimalist, whereas Celia just brings a new dimension to the house, completely different take on it.'

From an architectural perspective the project succeeds thanks to three main shifts; The visual transformation of a tired, uninspiring bungalow to a contemporary, angular form. Then there's the thermal transformation to create a super low-energy and high-performing modern home. Finally, and arguably most crucial, is the spatial transformation within the home. A clear benefit of having an interior designer for a client allowing for more creative exploration within the brief.
