From party boat to floating studio: Ellice Weaver's Harbourside home
For most locals, Bristol’s historic Harbourside is the perfect place to while away a sunny afternoon. For illustrator Ellice Weaver, it’s where she’s set up home.
‘Sitting at the desk, you get to really be in this rhythm of the Harbourside.’
Ellice and her husband have transformed a 1970s river cruiser, a former ‘party boat’ in a past life, into a colourful and eclectic floating home. Original features sit alongside vibrant pops of colour, showcasing Ellice’s playful, warm and inviting style.
The boat is a reflection of Ellice’s illustrations, which centre around expressive characters, drawn with joyful personality. Drawing on her inspiring surroundings, Ellice takes cues from the layered, textural quality of Bristol’s landscape - from the hills and treelines to its iconic rows of coloured houses.
Mirroring the energy of the harbourside, Ellice’s work feels alive - full of movement, charm and imaginative details. Her cruiser encapsulates a world of creativity, anchored in the heart of Bristol.
