James’ clients James and Maria wanted a home that would complement its private, peaceful setting, and harmonise with the natural surroundings. The space should facilitate indoor/outdoor living and promote a slower pace of life.
It appears that the brief was met, given that James and Maria named the house Vila Mir, or ‘house of peace’, after completion.
The discreet approach to Vila Mir belies a bright and spacious family home that is thoroughly immersed in nature. Floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding patio doors provide panoramic views across lush green mountains, whilst the main living area seamlessly unfolds onto the large, private patio.
Natural materials and a neutral colour palette run throughout the home, acting as a subtle backdrop for the main focal point: the show-stopping views.
Despite sitting in a fairly suburban area of Abergavenny, Loyn + Co have created a home that feels secluded and perfectly nestled in the verdant Welsh countryside.
