Soft, organic minimalism: Costwold home tour with Studio Lauren Olivia
‘It's the balance of boldness and softness, a mix of old and new and how they work together.’
When Lauren Olivia first encountered Spring Hill House in the Cotswolds, it felt like a perfect project for her design studio - Studio Lauren Olivia. The owners, founders of a creative lighting brand, had a vision for their home that aligned beautifully with Lauren’s own style and the materials she loves to work with.
‘Straight away when we saw the initial mood board, we were very excited about working on it.’
Taking a stripped back approach to the design, Lauren used a neutral colour palette and natural materials to let the original features of the home really sing. From flagstone flooring to ‘undone’ fireplace surrounds, there’s an organic tactility to the home that invites a sense of calm.
The minimal design also allows the owners’ lighting designs to take centre stage–their contemporary silhouettes anchored by warm smoked glass, bronze and metals. The remaining furniture and accessories were chosen to complement the lighting, creating a beautifully coherent look.
‘We worked really closely with the client to come up with a design brief for the kitchen’
At the heart of the design lies the unique freestanding kitchen. Working with the flagstone flooring, Lauren created a layered, mixed material scheme with a painted prep island, limewash walls, and marble workshops–the end result feels like a space that’s been curated over time.
A blend of timeless and contemporary styling, Spring Hill House is a beautiful example of how pared-back, minimal design can bring out the unique character of your home.
